Police: 18-Year-Old Who Fatally Stabbed Relative Found Dead

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) -- The search for a suspected killer in Anne Arundel County is over. Police say they have found the body of a teenager wanted for stabbing two young family members, killing his ten-year-old sister.

The final chapter in a family tragedy ended just steps from where it began in Glen Burnie. Search crews found the body of 18-year-old Andres Garcia in a drainage ditch.

He had been at the heart of an intense manhunt since Monday night. Police say the troubled teen stabbed his young brother and sister, and then fled with nothing but the clothes on his back.

"I wish they would have found him alive," said Kennisa Lewis, neighbor. "I wish he would have been found alive, went to jail, suffered internally for what he did to those kids. He knows what he did."

Ten-year-old Ruby Ramirez died in the attack. It started as an argument. Her 13-year-old brother is now out of the hospital.

"Our only hope in this tragic situation is that the family can begin to turn that page, so to speak, and begin the healing process and start to move on," said Lt. Ryan Frashure, Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Loved ones placed cards, flowers and stuffed animals at the family's doorstep. A close family friend says they're coping the best they can.

"Everybody's sad over here, but they have friends, they are family," the friend said.

"I thank God for that. I feel bad that it's another tragedy to the family, but now maybe mom can get some peace," said Rhonda Hill, neighbor.

It's a heartbreaking end to a horrifying crime that shattered a family and the peace in a tight-knit community.

"A neighbor told me yesterday that her little girl is scared to go outside now. She doesn't want to go outside to play, she's scared," said Lewis. "The kids shouldn't have to feel like that."

Police say searchers found no obvious trauma on Garcia's body. His remains have been taken to the medical examiner's office in Baltimore City.

The young victim, Ruby, was a fifth grader at Hilltop Elementary School. Her stabbing is the 11th murder this year in Anne Arundel County.
