MLB Adds New Era Logo On Postseason Uniforms

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Major League Baseball uniforms may look different this postseason. The New Era logo will be added to the left side of each player's cap beginning with the wild-card games.

The logo will remain throughout the postseason and become a permanent fixture in 2017. Until now, however, MLB's policy has been to avoid having the manufacturer's logo on its on-field headwear.

New Era's logo routinely appears on the side of minor league baseball caps and those worn for other sports. It also appears on a variety of fashion caps created exclusively for retail sale.

The New Era logo has appeared on game caps at least once in the past. The move is the latest step in the transformation of MLB caps into a vehicle for showcasing logos and patches.

The first postseason game featuring the new caps will be the American League wild-card game, scheduled to take place on Oct. 4.
