Morgan State Student Fatally Stabbed; Killer Still at Large

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The search continues for the person behind the murder of a Morgan State University student.

Marcus Edwards was fatally stabbed Monday night. He was a 21-year-old sophomore at Morgan State.

Monday night around 10 p.m., he was stabbed in the chest, a mile from the college and near his off-campus apartment, near a busy intersection of Loch Raven Boulevard and Woodbourne Avenue. The young man was stabbed in the chest, later dying at the hospital.

"He was just a strong man who overcame obstacals through hard work. He loved reading. He was just a good person," said Edwards' classmate and friend Dominic Rowe.

Word spread quickly on the campus of Morgan State University of his death. He was a friend and fellow member of the community service group S.M.O.O.T.H., Strong Men Overcoming Obstacles Through Hard-work.

"We do community service, mentoring, events. Everything to uplift the youth at Morgan State University," said Rowe.

Edwards' death was a shock to many students finding out what happened today.

"And especially it happening to a fellow Morgan State student, it's sad because he was just a sophomore and he was just starting his college life," said Jasmine Warren, a senior at Morgan.

Tuesday morning police were back near the crime scene, going door to door trying to find any clue that would link them to Edwards' murderer

"Searching for evidence as well. Anyone who might have it, just remember, there is a mother grieving who lost her 21-year-old son who was a sophomore in college," said TJ. Smith, Baltimore City Police

"He wanted to impact the lives of everyone he came across. He just wanted to impact lives," said Rowe.

Anyone with information on the stabbing is urged to call police or metro crime stoppers at 1-866-7-lock-up.
