Video: Schoolchildren Recorded Chanting Racial Slur on Bus

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — A group of middle school students was recorded chanting a racial slur on their school bus in an online video.

A parent, Brandon Long, expressed outrage Tuesday in his Facebook post, which has received more than 200,000 views. He said his daughter recorded the video while taking the bus from Robert Frost Middle School in Rockville.

Principal Joey Jones wrote to parents saying the driver stopped the bus after hearing the slur. School officials say an investigation continues, and all involved will be disciplined. Schools spokesman Derek Turner called it "a teachable moment."

The Washington Post reported the video shows a racially diverse group chanting the slur against black people in lyrics from a viral video made by four black teens in 2013 as a commentary on racial profiling.
