PASADENA, Md. (WJZ)– A driver was arrested after refusing to pull over for an officer Friday morning when he was observed going 77 miles an hour in a posted 55 mile per hour zone, according to the Anne Arundel County Police.
Police identified the man as Antwone Nathaniel Payne of Brooklyn.
Around 7:00 a.m., after refusing to stop, Payne slowed his car to 40 miles an hour and called 911 and told dispatch he was being racially profiled. He said he believed that the Anne Arundel County Police didn’t have jurisdiction or the authority to stop him.
Payne eventually had to stop at a traffic light in front of Marley Station Mall. The officer approached the vehicle and conducted a regular traffic stop. The Lieutenant working the shift immediately asked for a car with a dash cam to respond to the area to document the incident.
Payne refused to comply with commands and refused to show identification, but then agreed to exit the vehicle. He was arrested and transported to Eastern District, while there he refused to give his real name and identified himself as self-given Moorish Nation name of Kadarighazel.
Payne will be charge for:
- Driving without a license
- Driving suspended
- Unsafe lane change
- Talking on a cellphone while operating a vehicle
- Failure to produce ID
- Failure to produce registration
- Giving a fictitious name to law enforcement
