FIRST WARNING WX: Heavy Rain Expected Across Maryland Through Friday

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--The First Warning WX team is monitoring what could be periods of heavy rain through the remainder of the week for Baltimore and the surrounding area.

A Flash Flood Watch will be in effect from late Wednesday night into Friday morning due to the expected rainfall.

"Drivers need to be extremely cautious during heavy rains.  From reduced visibility, potential hydroplaning, and flooded roadways, driving conditions will not be ideal and we all need to adjust for safety," said SHA Administrator Gregory C. Johnson, P.E.  "Do not try to drive through high water or flooded roadways. It does not take much water to lose control of your vehicle and endanger yourself and others."

IMPACTS:

The rainfall is anticipated to begin late Wednesday night through Thursday night across Maryland. The most intense period of heavy rainfall is expected late Wednesday night through early Thursday afternoon. Rainfall amounts are expected to be 3 to 5 inches.

Local totals may be higher.

"The heaviest rain will arrive tonight and Thursday," says Meteorologist Chelsea Ingram. "Widespread rainfall amounts between 3-5" will be possible with locally higher/lower amounts, depending on where you live."
