Gunman Forced Johns Hopkins Student to Withdraw Money From ATM

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Authorities in Baltimore are investigating after a Johns Hopkins University student was robbed at gunpoint last night.

It happened around 6:18 p.m. when the student was walking in the 1100 block of N. Charles St, said the university in a email safety alert.

According to the university, the student was approached by a black man, armed with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money.

When the student told the suspect they didn't have any money,  investigators say he forced the student to withdraw money from a nearby ATM upon fleeing the scene.

The student was not injured in the incident, but the university says they want all students to be aware and take appropriate precautions.

The suspect is described as having a scraggly, unshaven beard, wearing silver-framed eyeglasses and a dark hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police.
