1 Dead, 2 Injured After Violent Home Invasion In Rosedale

ROSEDALE, Md. (WJZ)— The manhunt is on for multiple suspects after three people were shot inside a Rosedale home. Police don't know who they are and where they are. Neighbors say the violence that happened is both disturbing and unusual.

"I've got my eyes open now, with that type of incident to occur in such a short distance, I'm actually surprised," said neighbor Charles Johnson.

Police were called to the 7500 block of Rossville Blvd. just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning for a home-invasion and shooting.

Officers found 61-year-old Stanley Anthony Lane and a 23-year old man, each had been shot in the upper body. Another 61-year-old man had injuries to the head. All 3 were taken to a hospital, where Lane later died.

"An unknown number of suspects entered this home, shot two of the men and then brutally assaulted the 3rd and then ran away," said Corp. John Wachter, Baltimore County Police.

A woman who was in the home at the time was not hurt. She was checked out at the hospital for a separate medical issue.

Residents describe the nieghborhood a family-oriented community and say they have no idea if the house was targeted and if so, why.

"It has been a quiet neighborhood. There's never been any reports of any kind of burglaries, or any kind of assaults," said neighbor Fred Limback.

Fred Limback has lived in the area for 12 years, but has never met his neighbor Stanley Lane.

"I don't know if somebody went there to rob them, they thought there was something worth robbing or it was a vendetta thing," said Limback.

Detectives also grappling with questions -- the biggest of them: why.

Police say it's not clear if the suspects targeted the house or if they took anything.

Police are asking anyone with any information to call police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
