Police Release Images Of Freddie Gray's Knife

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- For the first time, images have been released of the knife Freddie Gray was carrying the day he was arrested.

It was because of the knife that Freddie Gray's initial arrest was made. The object was brought up multiple times during the trials of the officers charged in Gray's death.

Controversy and discussion came out over whether the knife was legal in Baltimore or not. Officers reported that the knife was a one-hand spring-loaded switchblade, while prosecutors contended it was not.

Police have now released photos of the knife. The blade is about three inches long.

It was found clipped to the inside of Freddie Gray's front right pants pocket when he was arrested on April 12, 2015.

About a week later, he died from injuries suffered during the arrest, which set off days of unrest in Baltimore.
