Baltimore Co. Urges Residents To Get Free Flu Shots Saturday

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore County officials are urging residents to get their free flu shots this weekend.

The clinics are open to everyone, you don't need to live in Baltimore County to get the free vaccination.

With one case of the flu already reported in Maryland this year, now is the time to get protected.

"Each year the strain varies, and we want to make sure we are up with the latest and greatest," said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz.

"As a physician I hear the excuses all the time the flu shot made me sick I won't get the flu, I'm young and healthy or the flu shots are only for the elderly, the truth of the matter is by getting a flu shot you're not only protecting yourself but those you love," said Dr. Gregory Branch, director of health & human services.

It's recommended to come early- since its on a first come first serve basis. Flu activity typically pick ups in October and lasts through the winter.

Pop-up clinics will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at these seven locations:

  • Drumcastle Government Center (6401 York Road, Baltimore)
  • Dundalk Middle School (7400 Dunmanway, Baltimore)
  • Hereford Middle School (712 Corbett Road, Monkton)
  • Lansdowne Middle School (2400 Lansdowne Road, Baltimore)
  • Randallstown Community Center (3505 Resource Drive, Randallstown)
  • Middle River Middle School (800 Middle River Road, Baltimore)
