Escaped Baltimore City Prisoner: Vernon Goode

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ)-- City police are conducting a manhunt for 41-year-old Vernon Goode who escaped from police custody around 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.

While he waited in central district, he somehow vanished.

"He was arrested earlier this afternoon on a domestic violence warrant, he was taken to the central district to be debriefed, while there, he was able to maneuver out of his hand cuffs and simply walk away," said Baltimore Police Detective Donny Moses.

Police don't think the public's in danger, but given the accusation of domestic violence against Goode, they are concerned for the victim.

"The warrant was for domestic violence, at worst, we feel like he may possibly be a danger to the victim, so we need to get him if for no other reason for her safety," said Moses.

Goode is a medium complexioned black male who is 5' 10" tall and weighs about 215 lbs.  He has neck length dred-locks and was last seen wearing a short sleeve burgundy shirt, dark jeans, and was carrying a black book bag with braided stitching.

Anyone who has seen or knows of Goode's whereabouts should call 911 immediately.
