After Wins In Rio, Blind Baltimore Paralympian Conquers Alcatraz Swim

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore Paralympian Brad Snyder, a former Naval Academy swim team captain who lost his sight while fighting in Afghanistan in 2011, won big in Rio this year.

Now, he can add another tough feat to his list of accomplishments in the water -- swimming two miles from Alcatraz Island to the San Francisco Bay for "Swim For Sight."

For every $25 donated to the "Swim For Sight" cause, a patient living with a curable form of blindness receives a free sight-restoring surgery.

Snyder lives in Canton and trains at Loyola University Maryland.
