Frightening Life-Threatening Road Rage Incident in Glen Burnie

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Chances are you've may have seen it or may be even been a victim of road rage. It can be a frightening moment, especially if it ends up becoming a life threatening situation.

Police tell WJZ it was just before 5 a.m. Sunday when they rushed to the northbound side of the Baltimore -Washington Parkway in Glen Burnie after reports of man firing several shots into another car.

The 21-year-old victim in a Toyota SUV was shot in the leg. Police say both drivers may have been driving aggressively before it escalated.

Regardless of who started this roadway altercation, police say this is a classic example of why two wrongs don't make a right.

"We certainly don't like seeing outcomes like this where multiple shots are fired and somebody gets injured," said Elena Russo of the Maryland State Police.

Police are still looking for shooter seen driving away in a silver Dodge Charger.

The picture of road rage is not a pretty one, especially when you start to put faces to the names of the victims it become clear this is more than just a case of honking horns.

And if you think it's harmless Maryland State Police found that between 2009-2013 aggressive drivers caused an average of 51 deaths per year and an average of 336 average injuries per year.

"I try and avoid it. It's probably the best thing you can do," said driver Laura Criswell.

"Some people just don't know that they made you upset that you're going to come and pull out a knife or gun and try and hurt me," said driver Dolphus Christian.

Police tell WJZ in the 21-year-old victim in this case does admit he might have contributed to the aggression on the road but again police say that does not excuse the the actions of the other driver.

Anyone who might know something about this case is asked to contact police.
