Navy Takes on the Mannequin Challenge

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- A video challenge is taking the internet by storm as thousands, if not millions of people are recording themselves doing nothing! It's called the Mannequin Challenge and the goal is to stay perfectly still as the camera moves around you.

If you've been on the internet you know how the Mannequin Challenge has everyone striking a pose and holding it.

With three people in it isn't so hard, but try more than 1,000.

Navy's Saturday game in Annapolis against Tulsa had more than 1,000 midshipmen, cheerleaders and others, took on that mannequin challenge, and they nailed it after their second attempt.

"When you first had the idea of where you wanted to do the mannequin challenge, how did that come about? So, I was just on facebook and I saw it popping up left and right. I said, where is the coolest play we can do it and get the most midshipmen involved," said midshipman 3rd class Jeffrey Kramer.

The football game wasn't the first or second desired location. For Kramer and midshipman 1st class Hannah Vincent, the first was at T court.

But eventually the challenge landed on the sideline of Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

"I was in the background watching it happen while Jeffrey was filming. The second it happened, I was trying to find Jeffrey, I was like, 'we did it, we did it!'" said Vincent.

The idea was first discussed on Tuesday, executed on Saturday and posted on Sunday.

Since the post, thousands of people have commented, liked or shared it online.

It's a fun challenge that has given thousands a different perspective of the naval academy and it's midshipmen.

"It's really great to show people that even though we are a military institution and we're going to be officers, we're able to also have fun. And I think this challenge did just that," said Vincent.

From the Naval Academy's Facebook page alone, the video has been shared more than 1700 times and viewed more than 189,000 times.
