FBI Investigating July Murder Of Pastor's Son In Annapolis

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The FBI wants to light a fire under a murder case in Annapolis.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest of the killer.

A 25-year-old man was found shot in a car that crashed into an Annapolis apartment building in July. He later died at the hospital.

Annapolis Police and the FBI went door to door today looking for help in the case of Charles Carroll Jr.

Since then, the Annapolis Police Department has been working very closely in partnership with our partners from the Federal Bureau of Investigation to solve this senseless crime and bring those responsible to justice," says Annapolis Police Chief Michael Pristoop.

Police first received reports of shots fired and a car crashing into a residential building in the Bywater community of Annapolis the night of July 28.

Carroll was the son of an Anne Arundel County pastor who held a gun buy-back event the month before he was killed.

"To see my son taken out like that, I just hope and pray that the message will be sent to the perpetrators in this community that this is not tolerated," said Pastor Charles Edward Carroll.

The $10,000 offered by the FBI is part of the agency partnership with local law enforcement.

"We are committed to provide whatever support and assistance we can to our local partners to help resolve this matter," says Gordon Johnson, of the FBI Baltimore Field Office.

The most recent homicide in this community before Carroll's was in 2013. There have been a record nine homicides in Annapolis this year.

Anyone with information on this case should contact Annapolis Police or the Baltimore FBI office.
