Police: Man Charged With Sexual Solicitation Of Child Attempts Theft Of Police Car During Arrest

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 27-year-old Elkridge man has been charged with sexual solicitation of a child after he asked a 10-year-old girl to send nude photos of herself and meet him to perform sex acts, Howard County police say.

Police launched an investigation after the girl reported her online interaction with William Lemus Gonzalez, of Deep Run Parkway.

On Nov. 17, Lemus Gonzalez was arrested as he walked to an apartment building in Columbia where he thought he was meeting a 14-year-old girl for sex, according to investigators.

The "girl" was actually an undercover Howard County police detective. He was immediately taken into custody.

During Lemus Gonzalez's transport to central booking, he attempted to free himself from the back seat of a patrol car. When the officer stopped the car to re-secure him, authorities say he lunged into the front seat, tried to drive the vehicle and assaulted the officer.

Lemus Gonzalez has been charged with sexual solicitation of a minor, attempted motor vehicle theft, attempted escape, second-degree assault and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Howard County Detention Center on no bond.

Detectives believe there may be other victims who could have been solicited by Lemus Gonzalez. Police are releasing his photo and asking anyone else who may have been victimized to come forward by calling 410-313-2630 or emailing HCPDcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov.
