Police Identify Suspect In Fed Hill Double Shooting

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Police have now identified, arrested and charged a suspect in a double shooting early Sunday morning in Federal Hill.

Police say 24-year old Steven Perkins of Annapolis, has been charged with attempted murder.

Around 2 a.m., City police officers were called to the unit block of East Cross Street, where they found one male victim, a 24-year old man who was shot in the foot, and second victim, a 23-year-old man suffering from a graze wound.  Police say that both victims appear to have been unintended targets, following a dispute between the suspect and a group of other people whom he was intending to shoot.

Both victims were transported to area hospitals.

According to police, investigators believe that Perkins was involved in a verbal dispute with a group of individuals in the block. Police say that during the dispute, the Perkins pulled out a handgun and fired at the people he was arguing with. None of these immediate people were shot, but two other people not involved were struck.
Police were able to identify the suspect, now identified as 24-year-old Steven Perkins, with the help of several witnesses. After attempting to run from the scene, Perkins was taken into custody and a handgun was recovered.
Police say Perkins was transported to the Central Booking and Intake Facility. He is charged with several counts of attempted murder, assault, and various handgun related charges.
Anyone with information is asked to call Metro Crime Stoppers at  1-866-7Lockup.
