Ravens Injury Report Wk 13: Cornerback Jimmy Smith To Play Against Dolphins

By Daniel Benjamin

The Baltimore Ravens are almost at full strength.

The Ravens (6-5) are expected to have 21 of their 22 regular starters in the lineup when they face the Miami Dolphins (7-4) at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday as cornerback Jimmy Smith is slated to return to the playing field. Smith had a full week of practice after missing the last two games due to a back injury.

"He looks good," coach John Harbaugh said after Friday's practice. "We weren’t sure early in the week if he was going to be able to go, and he just responded well, and he looks good. It will mean a lot. It will help our defense. We’ll be, really, pretty much, full strength out there. That’s a big plus for us.”

The Ravens went 1-1 without Smith as they surrendered an average of 20.5 points a game. Opposing quarterbacks completed 72.6 percent of their passes for an average of 292 yards per game along with four touchdowns and no interceptions in Smith's absence.

Overall, Baltimore's defense ranks third in the league in scoring (18.3) and second in total yards (297.8). The Ravens own the top ranked run defense and sixth ranked pass defense.

Offensive lineman Alex Lewis is the only starter that will not participate in the game on Sunday. Tight end Crockett Gillmore and running back Lorenzo Taliaferro also have been ruled out.

Reserve running back Buck Allen dealing with personal issues

Javorius "Buck" Allen is dealing with some personal issues and may miss the game against the Dolphins, according to Harbaugh. He did not practice this week.

Allen has not gotten many carries this year, but he has been a valuable contributor on special teams. The second-year back has registered nine carries for 34 yards along with three receptions for 15 yards. He also blocked a punt against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third quarter that wide receiver Chris Moore scooped up, and raced into the end zone to give the Ravens a 21-0 third quarter lead. Baltimore went on to win the game 21-14.

Allen ran for 514 yards and one touchdown on 137 attempts last season. He also had 45 receptions for an additional 368 yards and two touchdowns.

Dolphins Injury Report

Miami has 10 players listed on its injury report. The Dolphins' biggest concern is on the offensive line, as four starters are battling injuries. The good news for the Dolphins is that left guard Laremy Tunsil (shoulder) is expected to return after missing last week's game. Left tackle Branden Albert (wrist) and right guard Jermon Bushrod (calf) are also slated to go on Sunday. Center Mike Pouncey (hip) and cornerback Xavien Howard (knee) are out.

Wide receiver DeVante Parker (back) is listed as questionable as he has not practiced all week. Parker has 41 receptions for 549 yards and two touchdowns. If Parker is unable to go, expect rookie Leonte Carroo to see an increased role.
