BPD's Public Enemy #1: Suspect In Stabbing Death Of 73-Year-Old

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore Police have announced that their new "public enemy #1" is a teen suspect in the stabbing death of a 73-year-old man.

He is identified as 19-year-old Christopher Straham, who is pictured above. He is 5-foot-7 and 145 pounds.

Police say the victim, who has not yet been identified, may have been homeless. They have had trouble identifying and contacting his next of kin.

The attack happened near Pulaski Highway and N. Highland Avenue around 4 p.m. Friday.

The crime was caught on surveillance video, and it shows the victim trying to fight the suspect off with his cane as he's tackled and repeatedly stabbed.

Police believe the altercation started inside the Popeye's restaurant. They say Straham saw the man had money and tried to rob him.

Straham's initials are tattooed under his right eye, and a heart is under his left.

"If you see a guy with two band-aids over his face who looks like this, that could be our guy," Baltimore City Police spokesman T.J. Smith said at a Monday morning news conference.

Neighbors say they've seen Straham in the area before.

Police are trying to find him before he hurts someone else.

"Someone who does... what he did is someone without a conscience and someone who will do it again," BPD Commissioner Kevin Davis said at the press briefing.
