WJZ has exclusively obtained the frantic 911 calls as a bystander tried to save the victim.

You could hear the good samaritan telling the victim to stay in place but that victim eventually died.

Moments after the brutal encounter near Pulaski Highway and North Highland Avenue the 911 calls started coming in.

"911, how can I?...."

"Yes ma'am...."

"I got a man here bleeding. I am on Pulaski Highway and North Highland by the McDonald's and Popeyes.

The caller tried to comfort the victim.

"I got you."

"I am your friend, just relax, OK?"

"You'll be alright."

"Stay right here, stay right here."

"Where is he bleeding from?"

"Looks like he is bleeding from his stomach area."

"He may have been stabbed or something, I am not sure."

"I am not sure."

Then the situation got worse.

"It's alright, I got you."

"Breathe."

"Breathe. I got you...."

"My man? Seems like he is dying on me ma'am."

"OK sir, I'll get someone there as soon as possible sir."

The elderly man later died.

Many people are concerned such a vicious attack could have taken place in broad daylight on a busy stretch in Southeast Baltimore along Pulaski Highway.

"I think it was horrible. Situation is getting really out of hand," said Allen Jackson.

"We just need people to understand, somebody who can do this to a 73 year old man, could certainly do it to you," said T.J. Smith, Baltimore Police spokesman.

The victim has not been identified police believe he may have had an interaction with the suspect right before the deadly encounter.

Straham now faces first- and second-degree murder charges.
