Frederick County Teen Kills Deer That Broke Into His House

FREDERICK, Md. (WJZ) -- An eight-point buck breaks into a Frederick home, doing some serious damage. WJZ's Devin Barolotta reports it was all caught on remarkable video.

It's the "oh deer" moment a Frederick family won't soon forget -- a buck broke through the front door of their home and barged into the living room, sending 17-year-old Ryan Manchester into a panic.

"I heard the loudest banging on my front door ever. It was like someone was taking a sledgehammer to my door," he said.

Ryan started recording as the deer went--literally--buck-wild, knocking over the Christmas tree and smearing blood on the walls and windows.

The deer rammed through the front door and broke the door frame to get inside.

"It tipped over the tree, it broke my door frame, there's a hole in the drywall over there, scuffed up the floor," Manchester said.

Manchester decided he couldn't wait 15 minutes for Animal Control, so he grabbed the family's handgun from the safe and shot the buck two times right on the living room floor.

The Department of Natural Resources issued him a tag for his eight-point harvest -- a freak encounter with nature he won't soon forget.

"It's going to be a really good story to tell for the rest of my life," he said.

The only reason the Manchesters can think of for this aggressive break in -- the possible scent of a doe on their newly cut Christmas tree.

Ryan's buck soon became 40 pounds of venison. Some of it was already in the Crock-Pot for dinner Friday.
