Star Wars Day Celebrated On May The 4th

BALTIMORE (WJZ) - May the 4th be with you!

Fans all around the world and from galaxies far, far away are celebrating Star Wars Day.

The annual holiday is celebrated on May 4th globally as a play on the phrase "May the Force be with you", a common line throughout the franchise.

Star Wars is celebrating it's 40th anniversary this year. "A New Hope" made it's debut in theaters back in May of 1977. 40 years later the franchise is still going strong, with the latest installment "The Last Jedi" set to hit theaters in December of 2017.

Star Wars Episode IX is slated to be released in May of 2019.

Happy Star Wars Day!
