Elderly Man Who Died After Rescue From House Fire Identified

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Baltimore City Fire Department has identified the 73-year-old man who died after being rescued from a house fire Tuesday afternoon.

James Thrower is the 18th fire fatality in Baltimore this year.

The fire occurred at a home in the 300 block of E. 22nd St., and was reported just before 1 p.m.

Responding crews saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the second and third floors of the home.

Firefighters were able to rescue Thrower, and he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Thrower was pronounced dead hours later.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and Thrower's cause of death will be determined by the State Medical Examiner's Office.
