Police Believe Armored Truck Robbery Is Connected To Others

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Two masked men armed with rifles robbed an armored truck employee outside the BB&T bank in Laurel Thursday, according to the Laurel Police Department.

At 12: 30 p.m., witnesses say the men, dressed entirely in black, approached the female Brinks employee as she left the Laurel bank, located in the 300 block of Main Street, and took the money bag she was carrying and fled in a black, four door, Dodge Avenger with paper tags and tinted windows.

Police say they headed westbound toward MD 216.

Laurel police recovered the empty money bag at 7th and Main Street.  It was filled with other empty bags.

Officers say the suspects did not get away with any cash.

The FBI and special agents from D.C. and Takoma Park came to the scene in Laurel because of similar armored truck robberies.

Detectives say the Laurel robbery is related to the other armored vehicle cases.

Anyone with information is asked to call  Laurel Police Detective Rexine at 301-498-8002.
