Ocean City Police are making their presence known and increasing their force during the busiest season of the year.

"Currently experiencing a quarter of a century lows in our crime statistics, so just our presence and the interaction we have in the community we are very fortunate to have the supportive community not only from my residents but also from our visitors," says Ocean City Police Chief Ross Buzzuro.

From the extra officers to the police surveillance, cameras set up along the boardwalk, with dispatchers looking out for any suspicious activity.

"I'm happy they are watching everything, this day and age we don't know what's going to happen one day to the next, one minute to the next," says Betty Walston, who is visiting Ocean City.

Beachgoers appreciate their dedicated service.

"Every time we come out here I have never felt any issues regarding being threatened for my family, their safety, their security, police are always out and about enforcing the laws, it's a good time out here," says Ocean City visitor Hank Rose.

The community is also on the look out staying vigilant to help drive crime down.

Working with police to protect their town.

"We want them to enjoy themselves but also leave safe and sound and we also need that helping hand from them," says Chief Bazzuro.

Ocean City Police plan to focus on the neighborhoods this summer, they want to know the communities that will be staying here, to better serve their needs.

So far in 2017, serious crime is down about 14 percent in Ocean City.
