Police: Woman Allegedly Raped While Waiting At Maryland Bus Stop

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Montgomery County police are investigating a report of a woman who claimed she was raped at a bus stop in Gaithersburg early Friday morning.

Detectives say the woman was waiting to catch the bus around 5:30 a.m. at Watkins Mill Road and Travis Lane when she was reportedly raped.

Montgomery County police say the victim was taken to a hospital.

The suspect reportedly grabbed the victim, pulled her toward a wooded area next to the bus stop, sexually assaulted her and ran from the scene.

Investigators say the suspect is described as a black man in his twenties, who was wearing a dark color, checkered shirt or jacket.

No arrests were made and police are still investigating.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have information about this sexual assault to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5050. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to their line that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this sexual assault.
