Judge Awards $1M In Damages For Alleged Sexual Abuse On Bus

BALTIMORE (AP) — A judge has awarded the mother of an autistic student more than $1 million in damages for the alleged sexual abuse of her daughter on a bus in 2012.

The Baltimore Sun reports that the judgment was levied against Barber Transportation Inc., which owned and operated the bus that transported the 9-year-old student to a summer program in Baltimore.

The girl's mother alleged that her daughter was on the bus in July 2012 when she was sexually abused over two days by two boys, ages 13 and 14.

Court documents said the girl became agitated and told the boys not to touch her, but they did not listen.

The bus driver and a school bus aide failed to intervene.

Barber Transportation did not respond to The Sun's requests for comment.
