Crowds Pack Inner Harbor As Baltimore Shines Bright For Light City

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- As the sun set on a gorgeous day in Charm City, Light City electrified, bringing the city to life with a celebration of art, sound, innovation and illumination.

"Oh I love Light City, this is awesome," one festival-goer said.

Packed with thousands of people, the Inner Harbor became a living art gallery with displays of all shapes, colors and textures lit up — or even on the move.

"I think that it gives more color to Baltimore. I think it makes Baltimore look more bright, and I think it makes Baltimore stand out more," Baltimore resident Sean Augustus said.

At Rash Field, professional drone racers lifted off and whipped through obstacles designed by a pair of Baltimore artists.

"They're like running so fast and flying and everything," one girl told WJZ's Devin Bartolotta.

"On the Wings of Freedom" turned shades of neon against the Baltimore skyline, earning glowing reviews.

"It's awesome, it's awesome. It's really nice," resident Zonetta Gardner said.

For the third year, the festival is drenching the city in art from all over the world — and painting Baltimore in a brighter light.

Police said late Saturday night that the sound of fireworks was mistaken for shots fired. Officers responded to the Inner Harbor and determined that a shooting had not occurred.
