Once again we had some slick spots/”black ice” issues to start this day.
Drivers: use caution. Icy road conditions are possible overnight Sunday into Monday.
What a messy start to the morning! WJZ was on top of it last night as we explained the potential for a brief icing event this morning.
Sheets of ice covered city and county streets, causing several wrecks, pileups and at least one fatality. The National Weather Service issued the warning after cars were already on the roads.
Saturday was a nice, but chilly day in the area, with the high reaching 34 at BWI.
Official high today at BWI was 34°. That’s around 7° below our average for this time of year and it felt cold despite the abundant sunshine throughout the day.
Today will be chilly and sunny, in the mid 30s around the region as high pressure slowly moves to the east.
The big weather feature will be a temp roller coaster this weekend.
What a difference the sun can make. Today, with a decent amount of sun and just a thin cloud layer, we edged up to a daytime high of 40 degrees.
