Christie Ileto

Christie Bio lg

Christie Ileto joined WJZ’s News Team in October 2012. She was born and raised in Montgomery County in Olney, Md. But before Christie came home, she crossed the country for five years working first in Huntsville, Ala. as a “one man band” at WAFF-TV, and then as a general assignment reporter for KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, N.M.

While in New Mexico, she helped cover a treacherous snowstorm that slammed the state. A major interstate that runs from the Texas state line to Arizona was shut down, crippling commuters and holiday travelers in December 2011. She appeared on CNN for breaking news weather coverage to show the nation how New Mexicans were dealing with the unusual amount of snow.

Christie is happy to be back home on the East Coast with her family and friends, especially since her sister works right around the corner from the station at Kennedy Krieger Institute.

She is a graduate of the prestigious Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree. While she was a “Wildcat,” she interned with CNN’s “The Situation Room” at CNN’s Washington bureau, at CNN’s Chicago bureau, and — through a special program of Northwestern University — assumed a temporary reporting position at KSNT-TV in Topeka, Kansas, while still enrolled as a student.

Christie is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
