Monique Griego

Monique Griego 175x131Monique Griego joined the WJZ News Team in July 2011 as a General Assignment reporter.

She came to Baltimore from Texas, where she spent several years working as a reporter before being promoted to the Morning Anchor at KTSM, the NBC affiliate in El Paso. Prior to moving to Texas, Monique worked as an Associate Producer for KTVK, the independent station in her home town of Phoenix, Ariz.

While at KTVK, she graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University, with a bachelor’s in Journalism & Mass Communication. Monique also gained hands-on experience by interning at the ABC and NBC affiliates in Phoenix.

Shortly after graduating ASU in 2006 she left to pursue her dream of becoming a reporter. It was a goal she’s had since she was very young and although she knew it would force her to leave her family and hometown, she was willing to do it. After spending most of her time in the Southwest, her journey has finally brought her to the East Coast. Although she grew up enjoying a dry heat, she’s getting used to the humidity and doesn’t miss 100 plus degree weather.

In her spare time Monique enjoys being outdoors, exercising, playing with her dog Rocco and of course exploring everything Baltimore has to offer.

She lives in the city and enjoys the hustle and bustle of city life.

You can contact Monique at mgriego@wjz.com.
