Hunter S. Thompson

The king of the so-called Gonzo journalists, Hunter Thompson saw it all, and did it all. A couple of times. Known for hard-drinking and even harder writing, Thompson’s best-known work was probably “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.” Other works including “Fear and Loathing: On The Campaign Trail ’72″ in which he famously asked about Nixon, “How low do you have to stoop in this country to become president?” and Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential victory “Better Than Sex.” He shot himself in the head, at home in Colorado, in 2005 at the age of 67.
