Former%20Baltimore%20Ravens%20owner%20Art%20Modell%20died%20at%204%20a.m.%20Thursday%2C%20Sept.%206%2C%202012%20at%20Johns%20Hopkins%20Hospital.

Modell%20spent%20most%20of%20his%20life%20in%20the%20NFL.%20He%20was%20known%20as%20one%20of%20the%20league%E2%80%99s%20most%20innovative%20and%20influential%20owners.

Modell%20was%20among%20the%20most%20important%20figures%20in%20the%20NFL%20as%20owner%20of%20the%20Cleveland%20Browns%2C%20which%20became%20the%20Ravens%20after%20he%20took%20the%20team%20to%20Baltimore%20in%201996.

The%20Ravens%20won%20their%20lone%20Super%20Bowl%20in%20January%202001%2C%20less%20than%20a%20year%20after%20Modell%20sold%20a%20minority%20interest%20of%20the%20team%20to%20Steve%20Bisciotti.%20In%20April%202004%20%20Bisciotti%20completed%20purchase%20of%20the%20franchise%20but%20left%20Modell%20a%201%20percent%20share.

The%20Ravens%20won%20their%20lone%20Super%20Bowl%20in%20January%202001.

During%20his%20four%20decades%20as%20an%20NFL%20owner%2C%20Modell%20helped%20negotiate%20the%20league%E2%80%99s%20lucrative%20contracts%20with%20television%20networks%2C%20served%20as%20president%20of%20the%20NFL%20from%201967%20to%201969%2C%20and%20chaired%20the%20negotiations%20for%20the%20first%20the%20collective%20bargaining%20agreement%20with%20the%20players%20in%201968.
