Maryland is home to several fields of sunflowers so expansive and gorgeous that they look like they belong in a story book.

McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area

Located on River Road in Poolesville, McKee-Beshers is a 2,000-acre tract in a mixture of woodlands, fields, wooded bottomland and managed wetland impoundments.

It also happens to be home to acres and acres of sunflowers.

Rocky Point Creamery

Rocky Point Creamery, on Tuscarora Road in southern Frederick County, has a sunflower field for the enjoyment of its customers. You can take pictures during the creamery’s business hours (11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday), but they ask that you make a donation inside the shop to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. You can also cut flowers for $1 each!

The Sunflower Garden

This pick-your-own flower farm on Manchester Road in Westminster has LOTS of flowers to see and pick, but sunflowers are obviously a big draw to the place. Find out more about their peak bloom time and hours on their website,

Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park

The Maryland Agricultural Resource Council’s Agriculture and Farm Park on Shawan Road in Cockeysville offers pick-your-own sunflowers. You can bring a picnic, walk the trails and have a day full of family fun on the farm. Visit for details!
