Joe Flacco threw a 66-yard touchdown pass to Jacoby Jones, Justin Tucker kicked four field goals and the Baltimore Ravens shut down the sputtering offense of the New York Jets in a 19-3 victory Sunday.
Their season hanging in the balance after having victory snatched away on a final desperate play of regulation, the Baltimore Ravens responded like champions. Victimized by a desperation 51-yard touchdown pass to force overtime, the defending Super Bowl winners edged Cincinnati 20-17 on Justin Tucker’s 46-yard field goal with 5:27 left in OT Sunday.
The Ravens certainly did not play like a defending Super Bowl champ in the first half, when they were thoroughly out played by Atlanta’s starters. However, the second and third-teamers played like they were fighting for a spot on the squad by inspiring the comeback.
Baltimore Ravens rookie cornerback Asa Jackson has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing substances.
Upshaw and Considine are both expected to play on Monday after suffering injuries during the preseason. Asa Jackson will most likely be a game-time decision.
