Bartolo Colon kept the Baltimore offense in check for 7.2 innings to help the Mets edge the Orioles 3-2 in the first game of a two-game interleague set.
Although the Orioles do have somewhat of a stronghold on first place, the AL central is much closer than Baltimore’s division.
“It could still go either way,” said Todd. “The Royals have a game and half on them, and Detroit has the better roster and they could still pull away with the division. But their rotation is shallow now. They might lose a couple due to that and it could be the difference.”
