In the mid ’80s, what was once one of Baltimore’s finest mansion homes was given to the city and turned into a small hotel. Four years ago, a local developer and a local financier teamed up to try to create one of the finest small hotels in the country.
If enthusiasm is any measure of success, the young women who own Ish Boutique in Ocean City are on their way up the ladder. Jenny Carven and Christina Pohland, best friends from Stephen Decatur High School, opened the small but selective shop on 34th Street and Coastal Highway three years ago. This year, they’re taking it full time.
