Maryland Air National Guard
Budget cuts in the military have hit the Maryland Air National Guard particularly hard, with fleets of aircraft being reassigned or retired.
With the budget ax starting to swing at the Pentagon, Maryland’s Air National Guard is taking a big hit.
The military cuts known as “BRAC” resulted in many programs moving to Maryland. But, as part of that realignment, eight large cargo planes were taken away from the Maryland Air National Guard. But there is now a replacement plane.
Maryland is marking the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks with a memorial to the state’s victims.
