Edgar Allan Poe fans waited long past a midnight dreary, but it appears the annual visits to the writer’s grave in Baltimore by a mysterious figure called the “Poe Toaster” shall occur nevermore.
After two no-shows, fans of gothic writer Edgar Allan Poe are planning a possible final vigil Wednesday night in Baltimore to watch for the mysterious visitor who for decades had visited Poe’s grave on the author’s birthday.
Is the “Poe Toaster” nevermore?
Will he or won’t he? That is the question as we get ready to mark the birthday of Edgar Allan Poe. Poe is buried at Westminster Hall graveyard. Each year, on this night, a mystery person has left roses and cognac at Poe’s grave.
Fans of American writer Edgar Allan Poe are heading to Baltimore again this year to see if they can catch a glimpse of the shadowy figure known only as the “Poe toaster” — even though the mystery man was a no-show last year.
