The University of Maryland President Wallace Loh released this statement.
University of Maryland officials are touting the academic benefits of joining the Big Ten.
The Maryland Terrapins and Rutgers, will be leaving their respective conferences and join the Big Ten conference during the 2014 calendar year.
The University of Maryland says President Wallace Loh is in Asia. The university says Loh is visiting South Korea and Taiwan to lay the groundwork for new research and educational partnerships.
Soon after being named the University of Maryland’s president in 2010, Wallace D. Loh visited campus and learned that the president’s house was scheduled for demolition.
The University of Maryland is waiting for approval to demolish the 55-year-old brick mansion that serves as the official residence school’s president.
Wallace Loh was appointed president of the University of Maryland last August and started work on Nov. 1. But he has not yet been formally sworn in.
