Best Adult Computer Classes In Baltimore

In order to be effective and successful in today's society, it is necessary to have or possess some computer skills. Living in this 21st century means you must be able to send and receive emails and surf/research using the internet, not to mention have access to one or more social media sites. For those with little to no computer skills, there is still hope. In the Baltimore area, there are several resources where you can learn basic computer skills at little to no cost.

www.southbaltimorelearns.orgSouth Baltimore Learning Center (SBLC) offers basic classes in computer use and the internet at a small cost. Sessions last for six weeks and are held for two hours, twice a week. A computer lab is available that is free and open to the public. The center's hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 am to 8:30 pm, Fridays from 9:00 am to 5 pm and Saturdays from 8:30 am to 3 pm.

Sessions are held for two hours on Wednesdays and Fridays. Topics include beginning keyboarding, using email and the internet. Participants must be at least 18 and not enrolled in high school.

Located in Southeast Baltimore, this 501c3 organization focuses on improving the quality of life for participants. To that end, LIFT offers computer literacy classes. According to the website, participants must be at least 17 years old and not enrolled in high school. The website describes LIFT as "a learner-centered approach to education, life skills and job readiness."

According to the website, "The Pratt Centers for Technology Training (PCTT) and the Public Computer Center at the Central Library offer FREE classes on computer use and software applications geared toward people with little to no computer experience. Classes for intermediate and advanced users are offered as well. The locations are: Central Library, Northwood, Orleans Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast Anchor Library and Walbrook". At other times, the computer lab is open for use and free to the public.

Programs available include Computer Science, Database, Programming and Web Technology. Most classes offered are worth three credits. Upon completion of the program, students may transfer to a four-year college to continue their education.
