Best Mommy & Me Classes In Baltimore

Spending quality time with their children is important to mothers, no matter the age of the child. Mommy and Me classes serve a dual purpose. While the classes offer mothers a way to spend time with their babies, they also allow moms an opportunity for socialization. In the Baltimore area, there are various activities available which meet the needs of both mother and child.

My Gym offers a variety of classes geared to children no matter the age. According to its website, My Gym "has developed an extraordinary program and facility devised to help children six weeks thru 10 years of age develop physically, cognitively and emotionally". The classes offered help children in developing coordination and agility. This facility is located in northwestern Baltimore County in the Timonium area.

Kid's First offers swimming classes which emphasize the development of muscles. As children master one group, they are moved to another. With Mommy and Me, children begin to learn to swim with their parent present to assist. The website touts, "We work to develop the natural instincts that a child has for the water, as well as the primary skills of buoyancy, propulsion and breath control."

Baltimore Sports Group offers soccer techniques for children as young as six months. Activities are designed to develop coordination and motor skills. Classes occur at the Parkville Middle School at a small cost. There are other activities offered in addition to Mommy and Me classes.

Music Together has 10-week session classes for children as young as birth. Emphasis is on developing rhythm and movement, which allow parents and children to not only discover and enjoy music together, but also strengthen the parent and child bonds as they share with each other. Classes focus on the natural inclination of children to be musical as they imitate the adults present. The center is located in the Towson section of northwestern Baltimore County.

Located in the Federal Hill section of the city, the J, as it is nicknamed, offers parents the opportunity to engage their little ones and stay connected with each other. Classes are varied and focus upon the sensory, cognitive and gross motor skill development of children. Classes offered are priced, though some are free. There are two other locations for the JCC — one in Park Heights, the other in Owings Mills. Hours of operation are Mondays through Fridays from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.
