Best Places For Tap Dancing Lessons In Baltimore

Although tap dancing has fallen out of play somewhat in modern film, it is still very much alive onstage and is one of the most popular forms of dance taught at studios across the nation, including those in the city of Baltimore. If you are interested in this fun and entertaining dance style, here are some of the best locations in Charm City to learn.

With an expansive dance space, the Baltimore School of Dance is focused on a sense of family and community, and it shows in the praise the students of the class have given. The tap classes are taught by the studio director herself, Amy Hornberger, who has studied under some of the greats, including at the Broadway Dance Center in New York. Those who attend her class will learn a variety of tap techniques from a true master, techniques which are certain to take anyone, no matter how new they are to dance, into a level of confidence and mastery of their own feet that they never had before.

The Baltimore Dance Center is open for both youth and adults with the goal of more performance opportunities in the future, leading some into dance professions. At the Baltimore Dance Center, you aren't just going to find yourself at the back of a large room trying to keep up with the rest of the students while the instructor shouts from the front. The center focuses on small group instruction with personal, one-on-one attention as you grow and improve in your dance needs. In the tap class, you will learn the different terminology that comes along with tap dancing. Strengthen up your ankles for the hard work of kicking out those taps, and then learn the different rhythm patterns to develop your own tap style.

The Carroll School of Dance is a great center for family learning. The school takes students as young as two years old. The classes have no upper age limit for students, so seniors may certainly apply. The school is greatly committed to building the community of Baltimore City and County, so the school works within the community, going on field trips and setting up performances. The tap classes include a baby tap course, as well as an entry level and a more experienced level tap course. The school focuses on the rhythm involved in the dance. Often the tap dancing is done a cappella in order to hear the music your feet are making.
