Meyerhoff Symphony Hall

Next Sunday, February 14th, at 3 p.m., violinist virtuoso Joshua Bell takes the stage at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in order to mesmerize the crowd with his rendition of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. For the Meyerhoff, this is a major performance, as the young Joshua Bell has rapidly become one of the most celebrated young musical prodigies of this generation. Bell will also be performing with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra as they play Rossini's "William Tell Overture" and R. Strauss' "Also sprach Zarathustra." You and your date may delight in an afternoon of the timeless classics, performed by today's most passionate and dedicated performers. And what could be more romantic than that?

Mainstage Theatre
7700 Osler Dr.
Towson, MD 21204
(410) 332-0033

Center Stage is one of Baltimore's more well-respected play groups, and this Valentine's Day at 2 p.m., they will be performing Shakespeare's romantic comedy, "As You Like It," at Towson University's Mainstage Theatre. The Bard is a playwright who has managed to transcend the centuries, but Center Stage throws an unusual twist into this already twisted comedy. Unlike The Globe, which originally produced Shakespeare's plays with an all-male cast, Center Stage has chosen to cast its rendition with an all-female group, bringing an air of modern-day cheekiness to this tale of deceit, cross-dressing and mistaken identity. If you want to take your date to something fun and romantic, consider this altogether different take on a classic romantic tale.

The Windup Space is one of those hidden gems that, once you have discovered it, might just draw you back for the unique niche performances it hosts for a variety of tastes. At 8 p.m. on Valentine's Day, it will be hosting a concert featuring local talent Andrew Bernstein, Carl Kavorkian, Auxiliary Mammals, 83 Cutlass and Tendrills. You and your date can grab a few cool drinks, listen to some chill urban beats and stay late into the night (the event runs past midnight). Best of all, you are supporting local businesses and listening to local artists!
