One of the best things about springtime is partaking in the amazing arts and cultural festivals throughout the year. With so many to choose from, how is one supposed to decide which to attend? To ease this tension, listed below are five of Maryland's best. Many of these festivals are not only fun and entertaining, but also supportive to local businesses. Now that's festive!

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is a spring celebration in Washington, welcoming in the new season with beauty and festivities. In addition to the breathtaking Cherry Blossom trees, the celebration also features giant balloons, elaborate floats and the energy-filled parade, which features marching bands from across the country. May 5 – May 8

Each spring, Ocean City welcomes the arrival of warm weather and celebrates the oncoming season with its annual Springfest. Springfest is a four-day extravaganza that takes place at the south end of the Boardwalk and has become a favorite among locals and tourists for its wide array of activities and entertainment. With good food, homemade arts and crafts, and appearances from the best local and national recording acts, Ocean City Springfest is endless fun for the whole family.

April 28 – May 1

Come experience carnival rides, face painting, farm animal displays, hayrides and more, as Thursday, April 28 marks the start date of The Southern Maryland Spring Festival! Benefiting outreach charities such as Hope, Hospice and CareNet, this all-time favorite is one of few where you can have a great time while benefiting a great cause. On opening day, everyone ages 6 & up is granted admission for only $1! On Friday through Sunday, adults are admitted for $6, while children ages 6 through 12 are admitted for $3. If you have little ones younger than that, fear not, because everyone under age 6 is free! Although the prices for older people aren't bad, others can also bring a non-perishable canned good and receive $1 off of admission!

The Beer Bourbon and BBQ Festival is every ale lover's dream. If you're a drinker, be sure to stop by to taste over 35 beers, bourbons & whiskeys in addition to enjoying delicious BBQ. Unfortunately, the event isn't free, but ticket pricing includes beer, bourbon & whiskey tastings and a fantastic lunch catered by Old Crow Smokehouse! Spontaneity has often become intense with the different varieties of ale, so be sure to travel with a designated driver.

From its humble beginnings in 1968, the Towsontown Spring Festival eventually turned into the largest outdoor festival in Maryland. Each year, approximately 250,000 visitors attend the two-day event with more than 450 vendors to satisfy the desires and appetites of all patrons. So bring your family and friends to enjoy all of wonderful food, fun and the wide variety of entertainment with numerous national attractions. Be sure not to miss the opening ceremonies.
