Experience a night of awe-inspiring aesthetics and a classical performance after hours at John Hopkins’ Evergreen Museum & Library. Visitors can start the evening by taking in the “Sculpture at Evergreen 7” and the first floor’s featured exhibitions, “Alix Ayme: European Perception and Asian Poeticism” and “Eliot Porter: TREES.” Also featured is an exhibit sure to whet the theatrical palate, “…a display of rare editions of Shakespeare drawn from the John Garrett Library” before patrons are whisked to the Evergreen Meadow for a preview performance of “Love’s Labour’s Lost” by the Shakespeare Factory Players.

Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Marsha Norman masterfully intersperses romance, humor, suspense and tragedy with a backdrop of the old west in “The Holdup.” Performed in the delightfully intimate space of Spotlighters’ in-the-round theatre, every moment of tension and peppered-in humor will be tangible to audience members regardless of their seating. Those attending the July 22 show are invited to stay for a talk back with the cast and director immediately following the performance. Thursday ticket prices are at a special of $10. One of the winners of the Baltimore Playwrights Festival makes its debut at Vagabond Players and threatens to leave audiences’ hairs standing on end. In this pulsing courtroom drama, the wall between actor and audience is broken as theater goers are given the role of jury in a trial where two brothers are accused of murdering an intruder. Embedded in historic Fells Point—a trademark of Baltimore for residents and tourists alike—Vagabond Players is within walking distance from the legendary Max’s Taphouse, where patrons can assuage the stress of their jurisdiction with a one-of-a-kind brew. Tickets are regularly $16 and discounts are offered for seniors, students, active duty military and groups.

This acclaimed 2009 play by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Donald Margulies will be making its Baltimore premiere at Everyman Theatre this August. The play explores photojournalist Sarah’s trajectory in acclimating to a conventional existence after returning from a warzone in Iraq. Having been injured in a roadside bomb while she was abroad, the play explores guilt, changing relationships and the wrenching need to let go. This event is one that Baltimore residents do not want to miss.
