The time has arrived to show your loved one just how much they mean to you. Here are a couple of locals who are in the business of doing just that. These ideas are classic but the execution is so Baltimore. Take notes! These are the best in Baltimore.
The Floral Studio
There is no more classic gift than flowers. Unless your loved one is a die-hard red rose fan (and you should try to convince them otherwise), choose something other than the traditional red rose for your Valentine. At this time of year, the prices skyrocket. The Floral Studio can create for you a gorgeous arrangement of seasonal flowers. If your Valentine likes their floral gifts a little less traditional, The Floral Studio also makes terrariums, which I’d recommend. They do deliver, but if you’ve got the time, I’d recommend stopping by to pick up your flowers. The shop is adorable and they have a variety of other gift items available.
Mouth Party Caramel
Milk & Honey Market
Skip the chocolates and get this girl some salted caramel! Locally made caramels make great gifts year round. When they’re not melting in your mouth, they’ll be charming your loved one with buttery goodness. They come in original caramel, sea salt caramel (my favorite), maple, cappuccino, chocolate, chocolate sea salt and OMG! Tough choice? Then get the assorted bag! I always buy these yummy delights at Milk & Honey downtown. I do so to support local businesses downtown (especially food businesses!) and because Milk & Honey is a big supporter of local food makers and farmers. It’s a win-win-win (that last one is my belly getting some caramels).
Hours: Monday – Wednesday: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Thursday – Friday: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Saturday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Sunday: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Trohv is located in Hampden and is my go-to store when I need a gift or a greeting card. It never fails that I go into Trohv looking for one thing and I find 10 things I think I need. Not only do they stock unique gifts and furniture, the space is always so inspiring. Their decorations are usually handmade and really get me thinking about the way I want my home to look. I recommend everyone to go to Trohv for stationery. It’s simply the best stationery store in town. If you’re not the best card-selector, ask one of their amazing employees. They also carry locally made items such as jewelry and original paintings as well as very manly gifts. If your loved one is expecting, you can also find baby and nursery gifts here. Oh, don’t forget to check out downstairs for more furniture, kitchen gear and bedding!
Ojas Wellness Center
Ok, you’ve given them unique and gorgeous flowers, filled their belly with caramels, given them a one-of-a-kind gift and sweet card, what more could your loved one need? Hello, spa! Ojas Wellness is the kind of atmosphere that promotes relaxation and healing – no pretentiousness here. You might be thinking, “Um, my loved one is a dude, he’s not going to do that.” Well, I’ve got news for you: men LOVE Ojas. Of course, women do too. Besides the Pilates studio, yoga classes, facials and waxing, it’s the massages that bring people back to Ojas. Athletic-types (and you know most men think this is their description) love the Custom Wellness massage and women enjoy the Reiki Energy Healing. They even offer a Pregnancy Massage – tell me a pregnant lady doesn’t deserve that!
Supporting local businesses and spoiling your loved ones has never been so fantastic. With these affordable and local luxuries, your loved one will be amazed by your intuitive gift giving skills. I accept tips in the form of caramels (kidding!).
