Visit A Veterans' Cemetery

There are several veterans' cemeteries nearby, including Arlington National Cemetery.  Go and put flowers on some of the graves or see ceremonies. At Arlington, for example, there are flag ceremonies and a ritual where they put flowers on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Go To A Parade

The one in Sharpsburg is the oldest Memorial Day parade in the country.  It began after the Civil War.  It will start at 10 a.m. on Main Street on May 28 with a wreath-laying ceremony.

Go To D.C.

The parade in D.C. will feature soldiers from all 50 states.  It begins May 30 at 2 p.m.  There will be patriotic floats and marching bands.
