Wilde Lake Beats Franklin, 21-14

BALTIMORE, Md. (AP) -- Senior running back Edward Gilman rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries to lead Wilde Lake of Columbia to a 21-14 victory over Franklin of Reisterstown in the Maryland 3A high school football championship game Thursday at M&T Bank Stadium.

Wilde Lake relied on a pair of trick plays to break a 7-7 tie.

On third-and-3 from the Franklin 9-yard line in the final minute of the first half, senior running back Khalil Viera took a pitch to the left and threw a touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Eron Pruitt.

The Wildecats, who advanced to the state final by winning three consecutive road games, finished 11-3.

Franklin, which was trying to win its first state title, also finished 11-3.
