Frederick Airport Gets $400,000 Grant For Runway

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick Municipal Airport officials say the airport has received a state grant of more than $400,000 for runway expansion.

Manager Kevin Daugherty announced the grant on Wednesday and city aldermen agreed to accept it.

To expand the runway, 11 properties along Bailes Lane must be bought and developed. The grant will fund design and bid services associated with the demolition of structures and other work.

The grant, from the Maryland Aviation Administration, will pay most of the cost. The city and the county will split the rest.
